Davi's tutorial is showing us how to use <i><i>Plant Material </i></i>to make homemade papers. This is a GREAT technique! I had never used this technique before and I am now addicted!<br />
<br />
For my background paper I used fresh Pink Petunias and Tomato Leaves to make my images on watercolor paper and then I photographed the papers & saved to my computer so that I could print them. I know that the originals will change colors and fade with time, so that's why I chose to save and print!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg28LdJTYRTBQzD5UbSXh6gZd3hY8VeWxw50iVM-Thd1JNYbnOw0X-xgdwnhf1GlTV8qDHgqp7ixujhrTOLI5eb-ITnV6B1Vn8j74oxoZIyKNEmJiONVC3BxHHV0E71mEWzc6JI0cnOczs/s1600/SF+2+c+Petunias+smashed+w.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="142" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg28LdJTYRTBQzD5UbSXh6gZd3hY8VeWxw50iVM-Thd1JNYbnOw0X-xgdwnhf1GlTV8qDHgqp7ixujhrTOLI5eb-ITnV6B1Vn8j74oxoZIyKNEmJiONVC3BxHHV0E71mEWzc6JI0cnOczs/s200/SF+2+c+Petunias+smashed+w.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>I know you were thinking I'd lost my marbles when I said I used PINK petunias, well here is a photo with the smashed flowers and you can see that I got 2 different layouts with each smashing because I sandwiched the flowers between 2 pieces of watercolor paper The first px is after smashing before I brushed off the actual flowers.<br />
<br />

On the second picture I added an original flower next to it, crazy what the natural dies turn out like! <br />
<br />

<br />
Here is my tutorial:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6-K90i5tWOwXdwmtQk-zeKCo3u9RDfe14zGgdaEHNyV__qPslIU1pQueAUOAbY2FgN2w-rshkvYYeyCo_Z5l3ywjsdxDfQjHOZ8vHC7SqamEhumjDkJt0zvELtWJ2X3BtYtOdAjKjPa8/s1600/Shaker+Card+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="166" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6-K90i5tWOwXdwmtQk-zeKCo3u9RDfe14zGgdaEHNyV__qPslIU1pQueAUOAbY2FgN2w-rshkvYYeyCo_Z5l3ywjsdxDfQjHOZ8vHC7SqamEhumjDkJt0zvELtWJ2X3BtYtOdAjKjPa8/s200/Shaker+Card+1.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>To start I used my Cuttlebug with Spellbinder’s Classic Scallop Circles Large and the <br />
Classic Circles Large to cut out my frames and the clear plastic. (My plastic was recycled<br />
From the lid of a box of cherry tomatoes from COSTCO.) <br />
Lacy scallops die are pictured to the right, but I changed my mind because I didn’t feel they were sturdy enough on the edges for the frame & used Classic scallops like the one used on the base.<br />
<br />
For the frames I used heavy weight paper from MFP a Heinrich’s Co. and then glued my colored cardstock on top of it. Gluing the 2 layers together gives the shaker box more support. The dark green scallop for the base is a solid scalloped circle with the stamped image glued to it.<br />
<br />
LETS GET STARTED: <br />
The stack for the shaker goes like this:<br />
1) Cut 2 large shapes for base & then glue them together. (mine is dark green dp on top of heavy weight MFP paper) <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3cDnPhB0DRETjU2PhC5s1LfE32PjDepaGj_P5VXJ0w6TAHBqzC_JwwUUY79_uT3f_arSShu_CGgVchz0agJMQiDTddWRlGgH2SPskaBgcwycFlJ324ELkWGBqhgRBHDM8q7ji0W7_Bc4/s1600/Shaker+Card+6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3cDnPhB0DRETjU2PhC5s1LfE32PjDepaGj_P5VXJ0w6TAHBqzC_JwwUUY79_uT3f_arSShu_CGgVchz0agJMQiDTddWRlGgH2SPskaBgcwycFlJ324ELkWGBqhgRBHDM8q7ji0W7_Bc4/s200/Shaker+Card+6.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>2) Cut out your stamped image the same size of your top frame. Center and glue it onto the base.<br />
3) Cut out craft foam frames the size of your top shape & glue 2 or 3 together to get enough depth for your items to shake. As you can see in the picture below. I taped circle dies together to cut the foam and that gave me 3 different size spacer frames for different projects. I did the same thing again and then glued the same size spacer frames together for my shaker box.<br />
<span id="goog_2145700312"></span><span id="goog_2145700313"></span><br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIH3eyIJLpkW4tGbb8Y7Pxjju53of5RqwbN5VM68ALJYZn3GO41aRDUBIGSOyubhmQDxO05Dn7gz0Wg8lnzwPlUpRSnk6TND8-cWGemuYA3Tp_x66UiT6nie4BOMrTG2a_v_uT-f7Y0O4/s1600/Shaker+Card+9.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="166" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIH3eyIJLpkW4tGbb8Y7Pxjju53of5RqwbN5VM68ALJYZn3GO41aRDUBIGSOyubhmQDxO05Dn7gz0Wg8lnzwPlUpRSnk6TND8-cWGemuYA3Tp_x66UiT6nie4BOMrTG2a_v_uT-f7Y0O4/s200/Shaker+Card+9.jpg" width="200" /></a> The px on right shows How I glued 3 rings together to accommodate thicker shakers.<br />
<br />
4) Glue this spacer frame stack on top of your base & give it time to dry before adding beads or confetti etc.<br />
<br />
5) Cut out 2 shapes for the top window frame & glue together, give time to dry before next step.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8GadWI__8D-lk0viC2kznLuZ_QXYtuTe-cZXv-49EwiN4wno90B1QirXFfjfNQ5ct1RIryY9jGljvIWfu6jcdna8E7ybQ7U14Kl6NUK2CmT1XbQ95KlYDsReILKGdpeA23EvdXeC1YHk/s1600/Shaker+Card+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8GadWI__8D-lk0viC2kznLuZ_QXYtuTe-cZXv-49EwiN4wno90B1QirXFfjfNQ5ct1RIryY9jGljvIWfu6jcdna8E7ybQ7U14Kl6NUK2CmT1XbQ95KlYDsReILKGdpeA23EvdXeC1YHk/s200/Shaker+Card+2.jpg" width="200" /></a><br />
6) Cut out the center of the top window frame shape you made in step 5...(since it is 2 thicknesses you may have to run through your Cuttlebug once then flip it over & you can see the indention of the cut on the back side, just line up your die & run it through again, or you can use <span id="goog_2145700317"></span><span id="goog_2145700318"></span>an exacto knife to finish cutting through)<br />
<br />
7) Cut your acetate or plastic the same size & shape of your top window frame.<br />
<br />
8) Glue the acetate or plastic shape to the back side of the top window frame you just made. (I used E 6000 glue for the plastic, give time to dry)<br />
<br />
9) After securely glued, place your shaker pieces inside the well on your base shape inside the foam spacer frame and add glue to the top of your foam spacer frame & place the framed plastic on top. (I carefully place a weight on top, carefully balanced so nothing slides & give ample time to dry)<br />
<br />
WALA there you have your shaker box to add to any type card you like.<br />
I added mine to a circular side step card.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWtMZGByV6RCfybKfuehzvXXoNwIBi9P37sUtYycmdjv56JmWwL3A5kzbsrOMFih1myHarV-dSb8B8JmdBa0dzPMDcNXGDt6mj1yd0CoLp6lWpCK51t-a6_tVVEKWkNP0aMkaHf-nM4uA/s1600/TT+ch+15+Asian+Delights++8-14-12.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWtMZGByV6RCfybKfuehzvXXoNwIBi9P37sUtYycmdjv56JmWwL3A5kzbsrOMFih1myHarV-dSb8B8JmdBa0dzPMDcNXGDt6mj1yd0CoLp6lWpCK51t-a6_tVVEKWkNP0aMkaHf-nM4uA/s200/TT+ch+15+Asian+Delights++8-14-12.jpg" width="133" /></a></div>Now it's YOUR TURN! I was so excited when I won a stamp set at The Craft's Meow last month! I chose <i><b>Beautiful Spring by Nina B. </b></i>It has such a sweet butterfly & flower stamp. So here is my first project using my new stamps!<br />
<br />
I colored with Copics and stitched around my DP & around the inside die from <b>Spellbinder</b>s called <i><b>Labels 6. </b></i>I popped the butterfly up on a piece of craft foam that I traced with my butterfly & then cut out & glued to back of butterfly with <b>Crafter's Choice Glue.</b><br />
<br />

I also colored the raised leaves on my background after I embossed the background with <b>Cuttlebug's <i>Leafy Branches</i></b> embossing folder.<b> </b><br />

I colored both with Copics also & cut both images out and glued together so both sides were colored, I stamped Celebrate BIG! on both sides of yellow CS & heat embossed with black. Then I inserted into laminating sheets & sent through the heat laminator. See the back of my card with the insert to the right. I used ribbon for my belly band with the sentiment cut out with <i>Sizzix "Have a great Day" Framelits</i> (arrow).<br />

It's already Ch # 12 at Tutorial Time!<br />
This week's tutorial at <a href="http://mfpspeedytv.ning.com/page/tutorial-time-on-speedytv-challenge-12-08-17-12">Tutorial Time on SpeedyTV</a> is called <a href="http://mfpspeedytv.ning.com/page/tutorial-time-on-speedytv-challenge-12-08-17-12"><b>Faux Patina</b></a> by Pat Garvin. This is a really fun technique!<br />
<br />
For my card I used 2 different embossing folders <i>Rays</i> by Sizzix and <i>Forrest Branches</i> by Cuttlebug. My stamp set is <a href="http://www.marksfinestpapers.com/servlet/the-Stamp-Sets/Categories"><i>Be Wild and Free</i> by Mark's Finest Papers a Heinrichs Co.</a> I stamped on yellow vellum and heat embossed with black EP. <br />
<br />
So, now it's your turn to try this technique at Tutorial Time on SpeedyTV, just enter and you will have the chance to win this stamp set:<br />

</b>by Tammylee. Click on the link above to see this week's challenge & wonderful samples by the Design Team.<br />
<br />
For my card I used the stamp set from <a href="http://www.marksfinestpapers.com/servlet/the-Stamp-Sets/start/51/total/122/Categories"><b>Mark's Finest Papers a Heinrichs Co. </b>called <i><b>Silly Shells</b></i></a><br />
<i><b> </b></i>I used white vellum & framed it with the blue CS to hold it onto the page. I love the way the color shows through the vellum & how the background DP has a muted look.<br />
The blue CS is from the DCWV "Summer Dream" cardstock stack which has regular cs & blue, red, white & off white glittered sheets (only 1 each of the glittered) <br />
<br />
<i><b> </b></i><br />
So now it's your turn to try this technique for the chance to win this stampset pictured below:<br />

The sentiment is from <i><b>Friendship's Garden </b></i>by Asela Hopkins also at GKD.<br />
<br />
I started by stamping the rose with a light pink on the pink background paper, then I took cherry red & stamped the same rose on the yellow background. I stamped the focal rose 3 times on watercolor paper in red & then colored with 3 shades of red with Copic Markers. Then I cut out sections of petals and curled them & added dimensional glue to layer on top of each other. I also gave the leaves dimension by rubbing the back side with a large tipped embossing tool. (this is how I "curled" the rose petals too)<br />

<i><span style="font-size: large;">As they say a picture is worth a thousand words, so look at the picture of the comparison below.</span></i><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b><span style="font-size: small;">Do use heavy cardstock</span></b></span><i><span style="font-size: large;"> </span></i><b>If you use lighter weight cardstock then </b><br />
<b>Do use dye ink for crisp image Don't use quick dry clear glues.</b><br />

Good luck in your endeavors.<br />

This was my thank you card for our hostess for our 4th of July gathering. <br />
4th of July was great this year, we spent the day with 3 other couples and played<br />
ladder golf, snacked, Bar B Q'd & had a great day celebrating our freedoms as<br />
a country, giving God the glory for His blessings to our country and asking His<br />
guidance for our leaders and for ourselves. May God Bless America!<br />

Die: <i>Nesting Lace Circles </i>by <a href="http://lifestylecrafts.com/products.html?p=8"><b>LifestylesCrafts</b></a><br />
<br />
I cut white cardstock with the Nesting Lace Circles die using my Cuttlebug. I then took the frame that was left and used it for a mask to sponge the clouds.<br />
<br />
For the Hot Air Balloon I stamped GinaK's <i>Ecclectic Summer </i>with versamark & heat embossed with pink on polka dot dp. I used a versamark pen to heat emboss every other strip with "Shamrock" green EP. I used pop dots to adhere to another piece of cardstock that I stamped the balloon on then used Versamark pen to outline & heat embossed with bold pink to create a larger balloon frame.<br />
