This week Kathy Bradley is giving us a Tutorial on making a Flap Card on Tutorial Time at SpeedyTV.

Here is my card following her tutorialPapers a Heinrich’s Co. called Tweet That.

I just changed a tiny bit by making my focal circle bigger & over hanging on the top of card. I used the newly released stamp set called Tweet That.

MFP Tutorial Time Ch #16 Plant Material

This week  we have a new tutorial by Davi Reid on Tutorial Time on SpeedyTV.  Davi's tutorial is showing us how to use Plant Material to make homemade papers.  This is a GREAT technique!  I had never used this technique before and I am now addicted!

For my background paper I used fresh Pink Petunias and Tomato Leaves to make my images on watercolor paper and then I photographed the papers & saved to my computer so that I could print them.  I know that the originals will change colors and fade with time, so that's why I chose to save and print!

I know you were thinking I'd lost my marbles when I said I used PINK petunias, well here is a photo with the smashed flowers  and you can see that I got 2 different  layouts with each smashing because I sandwiched the flowers between 2 pieces of watercolor paper  The first px is after smashing before I brushed off the actual flowers.

On the second picture I added an original flower next to it, crazy what the natural dies turn out like!

MFP Tutorial Time Ch #15 Shaker Card by Lagene

OK kids This week's tutorial on Tutorial Time on SpeedyTV is brought to you by yours truely. I'll show you how to make a Shaker Card.
To see all the Design Team members' samples for this week's tutorial click on Tutorial Time Ch. #15 at SpeedyTV .

Here is my tutorial:

To start I used my Cuttlebug with Spellbinder’s Classic Scallop Circles Large and the
Classic Circles Large to cut out my frames and the clear plastic. (My plastic was recycled
From the lid of a box of cherry tomatoes from COSTCO.)
Lacy scallops die are pictured to the right, but I changed my mind because I didn’t feel they were sturdy enough on the edges for the frame & used Classic scallops like the one used on the base.

For the frames I used heavy weight paper from MFP a Heinrich’s Co. and then glued my colored cardstock on top of it.  Gluing the 2 layers together gives the shaker box more support. The dark green scallop for the base is a solid scalloped circle with the stamped image glued to it.

LETS GET STARTED:
The stack for the shaker goes like this:
1) Cut 2 large shapes for base & then glue them together. (mine is dark green dp on top of heavy weight MFP paper)
2) Cut out your stamped image the same size of your top frame.  Center and glue it onto the base.
3) Cut out craft foam frames the size of your top shape & glue 2 or 3 together to get enough depth for your items to shake. As you can see in the picture below.  I taped circle dies together to cut the foam and that gave me 3 different size spacer frames for different projects.  I did the same thing again and then glued the same size spacer frames together for my shaker box.

The px on right shows How I glued 3 rings together to accommodate thicker shakers.

4)  Glue this spacer frame stack on top of your base & give it time to dry before adding beads or confetti etc.

5) Cut out 2  shapes for the top window frame & glue together, give time to dry before next step.

6) Cut out the center of the top window frame shape you made in step 5...(since it is 2 thicknesses you may have to run through your Cuttlebug once then flip it over & you can see the indention of the cut on the back side, just line up your die & run it through again, or you can use an exacto knife to finish cutting through)

7) Cut your acetate or plastic the same size & shape of your top window frame.

8) Glue the acetate or plastic shape to the back side of the top window frame you just made. (I used E 6000 glue for the plastic, give time to dry)

9) After securely glued, place your shaker pieces inside the well on your base shape  inside the foam spacer frame and add glue to the top of your foam spacer frame & place the framed plastic on top.  (I carefully place a weight on top, carefully balanced so nothing slides & give ample time to dry)

WALA there you have your shaker box to add to any type card you like.
I added mine to a circular side step card.

(2012 c48) Shabby Chic Butterfly

Hello friends,
I was so excited when I won a stamp set at The Craft's Meow last month!  I chose Beautiful Spring by Nina B.  It has such a sweet butterfly & flower stamp.  So here is my first project using my new stamps!

I colored with Copics and stitched around my DP & around the inside die from Spellbinders called Labels 6.  I popped the butterfly up on a piece of craft foam that I traced with my butterfly & then cut out & glued to back of butterfly with Crafter's Choice Glue.

Today's card is inspired by THE CRAFT'S MEOW
September Sketch Challenge.

Here is the sketch at The Craft's Meow:
