Strathmore Online Workshops (free) Face

Well this is from Week 4, our final lesson by Traci Bautista.  This has really stretched me...its been fun as well as frustrating....I've struggled with it, but am starting to be a little more free in letting loose & swishing...swiping.. .doodling.....This is my first face & yes she is soooo out of proportion, but she will still hold the honored place in my art journal of my first painted face.....therefore she'll always be important to me :-)

Here's the start of the background on Week 3 Lots of brush swishing!
Then I added more paint with stencils, some are re-purposed (bottom of plastic paper plate holder & plastic canvas)

Won't you go on over to Strathmore & look at their other online classes & sign up for some fun & stretching & experiencing something new!

Traci Bautista has a new book out Doodles Unleashed.

B Strathmore Doodles Unleashed Workshop (free)

O K I think I took 3 steps forward and 2 back, but it's fun anyway...this Doodles Unleashed free workshop at Strathmore. Here is my second attempt, after all the doodling!
Oh, and yes that is a catepillar in the center,,,I need to accent his antennias!

Here's how it started, using leaf & swirl stencils, chipboard a,b,c, rick rack, rubberbands, vegetable container meshes.

Next I started adding acrylic paint to  copy some of the rubberband shapes..

Strathmore Online Workshops (free)

There is a great Free Doodles Unleashed Workshop 1 - Traci Bautista, Instructor.  You can find it HERE
It just started Jan 1...you may still be able to sign up... its a work at your own pace workshop.

The really FUN  part of this for me is that my daughter-in-law Rach & my grandaughter Minnie in Texas are taking it too!  And we are getting together online & VIDEO CHATTING while we are "creating".....we had so much fun yesterday!!!!! Here's the finished project.

This is really a S T R E T C H   for me!!!!  I'm used to stamping & inking, blending, sponging....NOT  using a paintbrush & paint! Here's the first px I took, I forgot to do one right after spraying on the masks. So I've already painted circles over some of the circles left by the rubber band masks.

And here is another after I started doodling with white correction pen & india ink.
I have to admit, I am having a hard time letting the "free flow" doodling happen. I loved the splattered background look so much that I didn't cover it up with paint or paint wash. I also need to stop thinking of what I want it to represent & just let whatever happens happen...

I'm basically finished, but want to add journaling...This piece stems from my thoughts on Sunday's Sermon (Jesus is the fulfillment of prophecy in Isiah 9:6.  He is Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace)   The Light of the world is Hope, Star of David in the flower... Rainbow of God's Promise.etc.
(The top px has the journaling added)
